Almost 5 000 units of 1kg carbolic soap bars have been delivered to the Massingir district health services and vulnerable communities in Limpopo National Park. This is part of Peace Parks Foundation’s ongoing efforts to support the government of Mozambique in providing important necessities to households, clinics, and health workers in areas where we have an operational footprint, so as to curb the spread of COVID-19.
A COVID-19 awareness drive is also in the process of being conducted throughout 51 villages within the Massingir, Mabalane, Mapai and Chicualacuala districts. With the support from local chiefs, communities attended awareness sessions where they received information on the virus, safeguarding procedures like social distancing and quarantine protocols and participated in demonstrations of good hygiene practices. During this process government-endorsed awareness posters and bars of soap were handed out to the community members.
Peace Parks has already made available more than $100 000 of its own resources towards such efforts in Mozambique, Zambia and Malawi, and are now focussed on securing further donations to help the approximately 75 000 households that require assistance. By giving R150 / $9, you could help one family stay safe during these trying times and be part of this incredible initiative.
