Initial basic training had been undertaken by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), another SMART partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The follow-up training focused on updating and customising the data model specific to the park\u2019s needs and taking into account the park\u2019s reporting requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"attachment_1392\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.peaceparks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/image-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1392\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">\u00a9 Denton Joachim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two people were trained as data administrators, who will collate the data and assist in the training of field rangers. Three section rangers were trained in data collection, making use of ruggedized field data tools, and their feedback allowed for refinement of the SMART sequence, to make data collection easier. The park will use the tool in their operations, for law enforcement monitoring and to build a comprehensive database, which will allow for ease of reporting and decision-making. To enable the data collection, Peace Parks Foundation assisted with the setup and configuration of Cedar smartphones for the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This training session followed on Mozambique\u2019s decision to incorporate SMART for measuring, evaluating and improving the effectiveness of patrols and site-based conservation activities.
